Belarusian indie band Vapna releases a bilingual single, 1000 Krain / Nusivylimas — a dreamy song about love, disappointment, and freedom, open to personal interpretation in both Belarusian and Lithuanian. Originally written in Lithuanian, the version in Vapna’s familiar Belarusian language came later.

— The new album was largely written in Lithuania, — says frontman Andrei Vazyanau. — Since I speak Lithuanian fluently and use it often, the song naturally emerged in this language — though emotionally, it wasn’t as easy. It was born out of a feeling of almost resentment towards circumstances, the sense of not being able to be home, not being able to feel at home, and the constant reminders of it. But over time, it transformed into a song of acceptance, a story of forgiveness and embracing life as an endless journey, one that doesn’t always go according to plan. For some, it will be a bridge, for others — a wish for a good journey, and for some, it may help overcome losses and separations, which we all experience.
